Welcome to my art home on the web!A little about me... My early life was spent in Newport Beach in Southern California, most of that spent in or on the water. As a teenager, my love for the ocean prompted me to try capturing its mystery and majesty through art. I was captivated and inspired by works of the many talented local and world renowned artists who congregated and exhibited in Newport and Laguna. I received my teaching certificate from the California Community Colleges in 1973 in art, and began A little about my art... Not wanting to limit my options or creativity, I strive to excel in multiple mediums and subject matter. My favorite mediums are oil and graphite, but I also work in acrylics, pastels, pen and ink, and charcoal. I paint every day, even if it’s just a line or two. Keeping the brush moving is key to maintaining forward movement. There is always something to paint, whether I am working from life or from my own photos. There just doesn’t seem to be enough time to paint all the things I love. Memberships... Staying involved in local and national art organizations is very important to me. Currently I am a member of North Cobb Arts League, Blue Ridge Mountain Art Association, Booth Artist Guild, North Georgia Artists Association, and Women Artists of the West. I am also the current president of the Artist Guild of Northwest Georgia. Current Exhibits... teaching painting and drawing. Most of my artistic knowledge I have acquired through teaching, which I have been doing for more than 35 years, and through observation and experimentation.
Membership in these groups has provided me with opportunity to market and exhibit my work, and to network with many other talented artists. I have had work accepted in both local and national juried art competitions. I have also received top honors for my work including Best of Show and Awards of Merit, and have exhibited at several prestigious museums including the Booth Western Art Museum in Cartersville, GA., and the Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art in Marietta, GA.
